ViMove – Offsetting our carbon footprint together
March 17, 2021
Allendorf (Eder) – When we move, we move forward. This is the only way to ensure that we never lose sight of future generations. This maxim drives us here at Viessmann on many levels. We helped to save more than 50,000 metric tons of CO2 in 2020 alone simply by replacing old boilers with state-of-the-art Viessmann products. Viessmann utilizes the full spectrum of technology and offers a wide-ranging product portfolio encompassing everything from high-efficiency oil boilers to gas, hybrid and pellet heating systems.
ViMove – Trees for the climate
In addition, each one of us and each one of you can can do something to fight climate change every day, with our Viessmann ViMove initiative. This is how we want to actively combat deforestation and plant new trees. After all, our forests are the lungs of the earth. Earth is home to more than three trillion trees, which absorb carbon dioxide over the course of their lives and so could potentially help to slow down global warming. But our trees are threatened by rapid deforestation. More than 15 billion trees are cut down every year.
ViMove – When every movement counts
This is where Viessmann’s ViMove initiative comes in – together with you. For every 3 kilometers you cycle, 200 meters you swim or 1 kilometer you walk, we’ll plant one tree to reward your active endeavors. You can choose from more than 20 different sports activities.
On our ViMove web app (https://app.vimoveforclimate.com/auth/signin/), simply enter your accomplishments manually and upload them as a screenshot or synchronize the app with your Garmin smartwatch.
Viessmann ViMove – The story so far
Thanks to the participation of Viessmann family members and partners, we have already planted 300,000 trees. But we don’t want to stop there. All the trees we have planted so far based on ViMove results are growing in Uganda. Our next project, which is planned for the spring, is a little closer to home: in the Allendorf community forest.
